What does MTS focus on?
Madison Tech Society is a professional development organization focused on career preparation, resume building, interview skills, networking, and helping students land internships and full-time roles in tech.
Is there a membership fee?
No, membership in Madison Tech Society is completely free for all JMU students.
How often do you meet?
We meet weekly on Wednesdays. The semester alternates between speaker or community nights and Project Studios. Check the semester calendar for confirmed times and rooms.
What if I can't attend meetings regularly?
Kickoff, team formation, milestone demos, speaker nights, and the final showcase have expected attendance. Project Studio attendance is more flexible, but every team is accountable for making consistent progress.
Do you teach programming or technical skills?
MTS is not a lecture-based programming course. Members learn by building semester-long team projects, while our resource library provides optional career guidance on resumes, networking, applications, and interviews.
How do I apply to join?
